This was the first thing I drew for Sinfonia, dating back in October, apparently.
I drew it without raising my pen from the tablet more than was necessary so it's messy, but it gave me the general idea of the character I wanted to make. At this point Sinfonia was purely a joke game so I aimed for really generic pretty blond boy look. I like how aside from small little things, Claude's design has remained the same right down to his flute I ended up giving him for real. I don't really know why I picked flute for him. I think it might have something to do with the fact I have always wanted to learn how to play flute, and I think they look pretty neat. Also, I'm super limited to drawing either pianos or violins so I was like... heck... gotta do something else now. Flutes, pianos and violins are the only instruments that exist in this world. |
I think this is the second image I drew of Claude.
His school uniform looks considerably more slim and less poofy now, and I almost regret making the uniforms more extra. But it's too late now, and I love poofy shirt sleeves. Maybe their winter uniform features more slim sleeves. Claude's character was pretty clear to me from the start, although he was much, much wilder at the beginning. He started out as very Gilbert-like and shameless and it shows in his first full body portrait. He has become a much more collected character since his proto days though. Also, notice how short his hair is in this image. He looks so weak... I think this is also the second image I drew of Jonathan. I feel weird about his design because it's technically the same, but as I got more confident in drawing him he has definitely started looking really, really different. Proto Jonathan was really cute though and I legitimately tried to keep him like this, but my hand had a mind on its own and he started looking different. |
Speaking of Jonathan, this was my first picture of him! I had a really clear image in mind with his general aesthetic, and I remember I took a lot inspiration especially from Soft Tezuka Boys and Akira from Devilman with his general aesthetic.
I feel super weirded out by this image because it's totally him, but it's also... not Jonathan at all. I feel like the fact I made his head shape rounder and added him freckles really changed him. |
I don't have much to say about this Claude one though. I had already been drawing him a lot when I drew this version of him so it really well illustrates what he looks like. I really like his expression here though, it's very Claude-like, haha.
The weird alignment system next to them is something I saw on twitter and thought of it as funny and also very describing when it comes to them! |
Here is a rare image showing me actually putting some sort of effort into costumes. Claude is the kind of character who looks good in pretty much everything, so I might have gotten a bit too excited over clothing designing and might have drawn a few totally unusable but amusing designs.
I'm personally really fond of Claude with the turtleneck sweater. I love turtleneck sweaters and he looks like he is very warm and content wearing it... I can respect that... I also really like the fancy costume on the first row (I sadly can't use it in the game but I definitely want to use it somewhere!), same for the one with the blanket thingy. The second row has mostly unused designs. The first two are something I realized I would wear rather than what Claude would (and you might even see I made a comment about it and totally forgot s from "that's"). I ended up keeping the first night gown thing as the actual night gown design though, and there is also a rare pic of Claude with his hair open. The last prince outfit is giving me bad vibes like he looks like those really mean princes in mobile game otomes I play during my long travel trips and get frustrated over after I actually have to pay for the rest of the route. |
Here is also the Jonathan version! Which is way less detailed and fun to look at compared to the Claude one, and this is where I have to admit I originally neglected Jonathan a lot and wanted to get Claude properly done first before him. So poor Jonathan got kind of awful treatment from me at first (but then the tables turned when I started doodling traditionally and everything is just Jonathan).
I notice I originally envisioned the school uniform much slimmer, but at some point it seems like everyone just got super baggy outfits. I have no idea how and why that happened. I really like the small fact that Jonathan's other sock is kind of bagging. I like to imagine he doesn't really bother with his socks and only pulls them up when they have fallen to his ankle or something. He doesn't take nearly as good care of his appearance as Claude does. |
Baby's first meme interaction pic. I saw this one dumb Finnish meme I had saved on my computer and immediately thought of Jonathan and Claude.
Rough translation: "I think that is going wrong" "Don't fucking tell me what to do" I swear it's more funny and less mean in Finnish. I don't have much to say about this aside from the fact I love Jonathan's expression and I'm oddly proud of it. |
Doodles I drew of Jonathan to get a better idea of his character + expressions and body language. This is where you can see how I'm slowly making his head shape rounder and giving him a slightly less scrawny build.
The winking picture is definitely my fave, especially because when I drew it my impression of Jonathan changed entirely! I imagined him way more calm and mild in nature when I was designing him, but when this doodle happened I kind of realized Jonathan is... very energetic compared to my original mental images. I think after that image I also drew that one where he opens his jacket a little. Jonathan's eyebrows are always different when I draw them and I'd like to apologize for that... |
Claude's expressions are hard because his are really limited especially in the game itself. Jonathan is very open and lively and has a wide range of all sort of expressions, but I feel like Claude only has like a few basic ones and he just... has variations of those basics.
The one with him being flustered is definitely a super rare expression on him, meanwhile the next two more arrogant looking are super common for him. I remember I struggled with Claude's open hair here, and I have later on changed it to be a bit more poofier than it's here. The last pic is definitely my fave haha. |
Here is an old OC shaming pic I did for Walter! I have one earlier design thing of him but I'm honestly not very proud of it and also too lazy to save it as something else than .PSD.
Not much to say here. Walter's hair is both the worst and best part in drawing him. Also, knife game was my own inside joke I did as a way to test the boy group members. Basically I imagined how they all would react to a knife game (which was popular in my younger days) and then they all were shaped based on how I imagined they would react. It's really weird, I know. And for those who don't now, knife game is a game where you put your hand against a table or some other smooth surface, then open your hand wide and try to hit the spaces between fingers as fast as you can with a knife's tip. It's not a game I particularly encourage anyone to play because it's stupid and dangerous. But also, I was pretty good at it even if I say so myself. |
This was a dumb comic I did for Claude's birthday in January. It's actually post-Sinfonia's true end scene so it's kind of spoilers? maybe? and that's why I didn't upload it on twitter on its right day (except for my private).
I honestly don't even know why I drew this but I had plenty of fun especially since I generally hate drawing comics and I'm slow with them. Due to spoiler reasons I don't talk much about their relationship because a lot happens in the game, but I genuinely enjoy this kind of silly banter between them. They're both pretty ridiculous on their own right, heh. Oh, by the way, Claude's exact birth date is January 9th and he is a Capicorn! Jonathan in turn is Taurus and his birthday is May 20th. They both ended up getting my parents' zodiac signs. Whoops...? |
Here is a finished piece that isn't about Claude or Jonathan! I feel a little bad over how little I have drawn the other boys, but I'm sure I will draw them too as the time passes!
I originally didn't like this much and I do understand why, but I have gotten fond of it by now. Or, like, I like the concept and idea of this art, I like the feeling more than the technical side of it. I really enjoy drawing Jet's scars even though I tend to exaggerate them and make them more red than they are! I mean, usually scars either turn light or dark depending on the type of wound but shhh this is for the #aesthetic |
